Vacuum Cleaners

A professional vacuum cleaner is a machine capable of removing from floors and surfaces dirt and coarse debris, dust, liquids and other particles of miscellaneous materials which can be hazardous if dispersed in the work environment.

The choice of a vacuum cleaner is mainly determined by the needs of the consumer and the use he or she wants to make of it.

Vacuum cleaners are available on the market in 5 macro-functions of use, which may also be present simultaneously on the same model:

  • Ash vacuum cleaner
  • Dust vacuum cleaner
  • Wet vacuum cleaner
  • Blower
  • Fitted-carpet washer

In the workplace, vacuum cleaners are very useful for removing dust or small solid waste, while wet vacuum cleaners are the quickest and most effective way to clean liquids from floors and surfaces. Similarly, an ash vacuum cleaner becomes a must if we have a fireplace or stove in our house.

The professional vacuum cleaner

The traditional household vacuum cleaner is intended for cleaning dust and crumbs from floors. A professional vacuum cleaner, on the other hand, is a machine capable of removing dirt and coarse debris from floors and surfaces, sucking up toxic and harmful fine dust

A professional vacuum cleaner can be used in any sector such as supermarkets, schools, hospitals, gyms, hotels, cafés and restaurants, offices, garages, construction sites and industrial plants.

How a professional vacuum cleaner works

The main components of a vacuum cleaner are generally divided into four groups:

  • Head: composed of one or more electric motors to power turbines which rotate to create the vacuum effect necessary to suck up the material into a container.
  • Filtering system: composed of a system of filters of various types - bag, fabric, cartridge or HEPA - which separate dry dust from air; this is the component which allows dry dust to be separated from air, holding the former to return clean dust-free air back into the room.
  • Collection container: made of plastic or steel, it represents the casing where the material sucked up by the machine is collected, when the collection bag is not used.
  • Suction hose and accessories: the suction hose may have different lengths, it is connected at one end to the collection container and operated by an operator to collect dust and dirt from floors and surfaces. At the opposite end, it is equipped with nozzles and accessories of various types, depending on the material to be removed and on the surface.

When the vacuum cleaner is switched on, the motor makes the turbine rotate which creates a vacuum inside the container: the operator handles the suction hose, bringing the nozzle closer to what has to be removed. The vacuum effect sucks anything inside the hose and holds it in the special container, which will then be emptied to properly dispose of dust, liquids and waste collected.

Difference between a vacuum cleaner and a wet vac

A common solid waste vacuum cleaner, excellent for cleaning homes, shops and offices from dust or for removing the most harmful dust and debris from construction sites and workshops, is equipped with a filtering system that separates dry dust from air, holding the former in a collection container and releasing the clean air back into the room.

Wet vacuum cleaners, on the other hand, although they work in a very similar way, i.e. by attracting dirty liquid with a suction mechanism and pouring it into a collection drum, the filtering system is replaced by a safety system, consisting of probes and floats, which interrupts suction when the collection container reaches a limit filling amount.
The special collection tank will then be emptied to properly dispose of dust, liquids and collected waste.

To facilitate its movement, the main body of the machine is supported by wheels: an essential element to move quickly and effortlessly, also considering the weight that a large model can have when the drum is full of liquids.

Difference between a vacuum cleaner and an ash vac

Unlike the classic vacuum cleaner, the ash vacuum cleaner is equipped with a flexible metal hose that makes it suitable and compliant with regulations and with special filters that, in addition to protecting the internal parts of the machine from dangerous clogging, completely retain the ash - much finer than normal dust - and prevent it from escaping together with the air released after filtering.

The ash vacuum cleaner is also very convenient to remove ash from the walls of the combustion chamber and, in the case of heating fireplaces, from the protective glass. Unlike brooms and dustpans, in fact, the cleaning operations can also be carried out on vertical surfaces without causing falls and dispersion of material, thus avoiding double work.
Furthermore, special accessories facilitate cleaning between the gaps that form, for example, between the wall bricks or in the most difficult corners to reach.
